I had a question from one of my subscribers the other day. He asked…
“In spite of stretching hard, my muscles are still tight. Why isn’t all my stretching effort showing results?“
Can you see the error he’s making? Can you see what’s wrong with the question he’s asking?
If you can’t; don’t worry. He making a very common mistake, which a lot of people make.
What’s his mistake… Stretching Too Hard!
Here’s what I told him.
Your comment… “In spite of stretching hard” is an indication as to why your flexibility isn’t improving.
Unlike strength training where the harder you push the stronger you get; stretching works the opposite way. The more gentle and relaxed you stretch the more flexible you get.
So my first recommendation would be to relax and don’t push the stretching so hard.

The article covers things like: warming up; when to stretch; variety; types of stretching, etc. (And BTW, one of the best times to stretch (to improve range of motion) is just before going to bed.)
