Self massage is a lot easier than you probably think.

If you’ve got a sore neck, what do you do? Almost without thinking; you reach up, grab the muscles at the side of your neck and shoulder, and give them a good squeeze. That’s self massage!

There are times when muscles are sore, and giving them a good rub is one of the simplest ways to relieve some of the pain. This is a rudimentary form of self massage.

Self massage has all the benefits of regular massage, but with the added benefit of doing it yourself. This way, you know the exact location and amount of pressure to apply at any one time.

Self massage tools start at the end of your hands; your fingers and thumbs. Rubbing with varied strokes across sore or tense muscles is a great way to help relieve stress and pain from aching muscles.

Other self massage tools include specialized massage sticks, knobs and rollers. The RangeRoller from Medi-Dyne is one of the best on the market, but in absence of this, a common rolling pin from the kitchen will also work.

The benefit of the RangeRoller is the varied treads and differing nodules that help reach considerably deeper than a kitchen rolling pin. While there are parts of the body self massage cannot reach, proper techniques and strokes on the legs and feet can help remove stress and anxiety almost as well as a standard massage.

Self massage comes with the same precautions and reminders of any massage technique. If it hurts too much, back off on the pressure. This is especially true of self massage tools. Starting gently and increasing pressure gradually is the best technique.

RangeRoller is a simple tool that produces amazing results for athletes or anyone looking to relieve tension, knots, fatigue, muscle pain or cramps. Take a look at the RangeRoller massage tool here.

Until next time, stay healthy, keep stretching and God bless.
