A USA Track & Field research study of 2,729 volunteers set out to answer the question: Does pre-exercise stretching prevent injury in runners?
After 3 months, this is what they concluded… “There was no statistically significant difference in injury risk between the pre-run stretching and non-stretching groups.”
So there you have it! Case closed.
Or is it?
Prior to the study I spoke with Alan Roth, the study manager. I predicted that the study would reveal no significant difference between the two groups, and as politely as I could, explained the reason for my prediction and why I felt the study was flawed.
So if you want to know the truth about how stretching really prevents sports injuries, and why the USATF study was flawed, take a look at my latest article at the link below…
Until next time, stay healthy, keep stretching and God bless.
